Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 186.15 points to 17240.1 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Nidan Laboratories And Healthcare Ltd., Crown Lifters, Urja Global(PP), Focus Lighting and Bombay Rayon, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 47 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 3 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Power Grid and Tata Motors were among top gainers, while Divis Labs, Dr. Reddys, HDFC Life, Cipla and Nestle India traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 624.94 points up at 57885.52 at 09:59AM(IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in IT Enabled Services, Electric/Electronics, Glass, Logistics and Cables sectors, while selling was visible in Miscellaneous, Tourism & Hospitality, Learning & Education, Services and Industrial Consumables sectors.
