What is restoration benefit in health insurance?

1. It is an add-on benefit that can be bought along with a health insurance policy at a nominal cost.

2. With this benefit, the insurance company restores the original sum insured after it gets fully or partially exhausted.

3. Restoration benefit will typically trigger for an unrelated medical condition.

4. The restored sum insured is not liable to be carried forward to the next policy year.

5. It is a value addition for a family floater plan as, if any one member exhausts the limit, others still are covered.
