Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 72.4 points to 16310.6 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Chaman Lal Setia, Future Market, Transwind Infrastruc, Glenmark Life Sciences Ltd. and Ujjivan SFB, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 39 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 11 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Bajaj Finserv, M&M, Titan Company, Axis Bank and Bajaj Auto were among top gainers, while Hindalco, Divis Labs, Tata Consumer, RIL and Dr. Reddys traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 265.76 points up at 54543.48 at 10:09AM (IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Diversified, Packaging, Rubber, IT Enabled Services and Metals – Ferrous sectors, while selling was visible in Petrochemicals, Power, Industrial Consumables, Sugar and Defence sectors.
