Cadila Healthcare (up 4.19 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma (up 3.49 per cent), Lupin (up 1.17 per cent), Cipla (up 1.12 per cent) and Divis Laboratories (up 0.75 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Dr Reddys Laboratories (down 0.36 per cent) and Biocon (down 0.32 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Pharma index was up 0.68 per cent at 13804.85 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 69.1 points at 16519.6, while the BSE Sensex was up 289.55 points at 55618.87.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 were trading in the green, while 20 were in the red.
