Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 60.3 points to 16510.8 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Nuvoco Vistas Corporation Ltd., Ujjivan Financial, Krsnaa Diagnostics Ltd., YES Bank and Windlas Biotech Ltd., touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 26 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 24 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Hindalco and TCS were among top gainers, while Eicher Motors, Adani Ports SEZ, Power Grid, Tata Consumer and Hero MotoCorp traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 250.63 points up at 55579.95 at 09:59AM (IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Diversified, IT Software, Metals – Ferrous, Infrastructure and Defence sectors, while selling was visible in IT – Hardware, Petrochemicals, Power, Fertilisers and Sugar sectors.
