Shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 1.7 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank (up 1.41 per cent), IndusInd Bank (up 1.14 per cent), IDFCBANK (up 1.01 per cent) and ICICI Bank (up 0.73 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bandhan Bank (down 0.72 per cent) and State Bank of India (down 0.03 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.7 per cent up at 36831.3.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 157.9 points at 17234.15, while the BSE Sensex stood up 514.33 points at 57852.54.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 ended in the green, while 14 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, PNB and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Yuken India, Tinplate Co, Zen Tech, TD Power Sys and Banka Bioloo hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Inventure Grwth hit their fresh 52-week lows.
