IndusInd Bank (up 0.22 per cent) and HDFC Bank (up 0.12 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Axis Bank (down 1.65 per cent), Bandhan Bank (down 1.44 per cent), IDFCBANK (down 1.33 per cent), RBLBANK (down 0.95 per cent) and Punjab National Bank (down 0.92 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Bank index was down 0.62 per cent at 36367.2 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 21.3 points at 17356.5, while the BSE Sensex was down 34.14 points at 58262.77.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 were trading in the green, while 28 were in the red.
