TIINDIA (up 1.05 per cent), Bosch (up 0.48 per cent), Ashok Leyland (up 0.44 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (up 0.38 per cent) and Exide Industries (up 0.33 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Eicher Motors (down 3.26 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (down 1.1 per cent), Bajaj Auto (down 1.1 per cent), Tata Motors (down 0.87 per cent) and MRF (down 0.59 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 0.77 per cent at 10271.25 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 36.8 points at 17548.35, while the BSE Sensex was down 207.22 points at 58808.67.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.
