Shares of Macrotech Developers(up 10.26 per cent), Oberoi Realty(up 0.74 per cent) and Brigade Enterprises(up 0.54 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Phoenix Mills(down 4.31 per cent), Prestige Estates Projects(down 2.3 per cent), Indiabulls Real Estate(down 1.82 per cent), Godrej Properties(down 0.67 per cent) and DLF(down 0.06 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Realty index closed 0.14 per cent down at 545.1.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 110.25 points at 17999.2, while the BSE Sensex stood down 396.34 points at 60322.37.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 ended in the green, while 36 closed in the red.
